In case you needed more proof of what a joke Sarah Palin is, take a look at some new figures released regarding how much her resignation cost Alaska. If you remember, she resigned because she didn’t want to be a lame duck governor and just collect a pay check. No, she’d rather rack up more debt for the state. Did she forget that they would STILL have to pay her successor? I find the $3,328 for moving out of the Governor’s mansion in Juneau quite interesting. If I’m not mistaken, didn’t she live in Wasilla and collect a per diem to live there instead of the Governor’s mansion? How exactly was that $3,328 used? There couldn’t have been that much in the mansion to move, especially if she didn’t live there.
Early estimates put the cost of Sarah Palin’s midterm resignation as Alaska governor at a minimum of $40,000, not including a special legislative session partly linked to her departure. The preliminary figures obtained by The Associated Press through a public records request show it cost the state almost $14,100 for the July 26 swearing-in ceremony of new Gov. Sean Parnell.
The price tag for moving Palin – the former GOP vice presidential candidate – and her family from the governor’s mansion in Juneau amounted to roughly $3,328.
Palin’s spokeswoman, Meghan Stapleton, says suggesting the resignation cost the state is “incredibly misleading.” She says the resignation ceremony was added to a previously scheduled governor’s picnic and was organized by the lieutenant governor’s office.
The tally doesn’t include the estimated $100,000 it cost for a one-day special session last month in which lawmakers approved Palin’s pick to replace Parnell as lieutenant governor and overrode her veto of federal stimulus funds intended for energy efficiency projects.
Gov. Sarah Palin is refusing to accept more than 30 percent of the federal economic stimulus money being offered to Alaska, including dollars for schools, energy assistance and social services.
The news Thursday drew anger from those who accused Palin of putting her national political aspirations ahead of the state’s interests, and admiration from others who say she has courage to turn down money that would expand government. The state Legislature will have an opportunity to override her decision.
Palin is not taking about $288 million of the $930.7 million that Alaska is due in the federal stimulus. Palin said she is accepting the federal stimulus money that would go for construction projects, but not funding directed at government operations.
The Anchorage Daily news is even reporting that the biggest single chunk of stimulus money that Palin is turning down is $160 million for education. There’s also $17 million in Department of Labor funds (vocational rehabilitation services, unemployment services, etc.), about $9 million for Health and Social Services and about $7 million for Public Safety.
Doesn’t she realize she’s not relevant anymore? Even the Republican Party can’t be stupid enough to see her as their future. Someone needs to tell her. Really, how dumb is this woman? I guess she thinks that if she turns down the education money her constituents will be as dumb as her and keep electing her and supporting her. What a joke.
Why does Sarah Palin think the 1st Amendment is under attack? Because they are doing their job of reporting. They are reporting the negative attacks handed out by her, the horrible things yelled out at her rallies, etc. So, because the media is reporting facts instead of lies, like she stumps about at her rallies, the 1st Amendment is in trouble. This woman is completely delusional. Doesn’t make the whole book-banning thing seem far-fetched, does it? If you don’t agree with her thinking, then you’re a bad person trying to take away our freedoms.
ABC News’ Steven Portnoy reports: In a conservative radio interview that aired in Washington, D.C. Friday morning, Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin said she fears her First Amendment rights may be threatened by “attacks” from reporters who suggest she is engaging in a negative campaign against Barack Obama.
No Ms. Palin. They are not attacking you. They are reporting the truth. You know, that thing where your claims can actually be backed up by evidence. Not that bile you spew forth on the campaign trail. You are a disgrace.
Watch this great reaction McCain gives as he thinks about the future of the Republican Party under Palin. At about 9 seconds in you can see the nightmares flash before his eyes. Even he can’t believe he was dumb enough to pick someone so stupid, scary, and unqualified and for a brief second he sees, and gets scared of what he does see, the future of Palin and the Republican Party.
Here is a quick thought: Obama is known for being a very powerful speaker able to bring people together and look towards a positive future. McCain and Palin use scare tactics, name-calling, and divisive speeches to get their party riled up. The politics of hate. Is that really what you want? You don’t see people at Obama rallies yelling racial slurs, traitor, kill him, bomb Obama, etc. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what the Republican Party has become.
There is a new ad being put out by the Obama campaign that hits McCain on the economy and Sarah Palin. More specifically, it uses McCain’s own words about how he knows nothing about the economy and how he might have to rely on his Vice President for economic issues. Of course, he said that before picking Sarah Palin as VP. We all know the only thing he can rely on her for is shooting wolf pups from helicopters.
The ad is in McCain’s own words with several quotes about his expertise on economic issues. “I’m going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated.” Then the second: “The issue of economics is not something I’ve understood as well as I should.” And the third: “‘I might have to rely on a vice president that I select’ for expertise on economic issues.” Watch the ad below.
In case you missed this part of the Brian Williams interview with John McCain and Sarah Palin, he asks Palin if an abortion clinic bomber is a terrorist. She at first dodges the question, making sure to bring up Bill Ayers, and then she gives an answer that is so unbelievably stupid. She really has no idea what she’s talking about. She just spits whatever they’ve drilled into her head. It wouldn’t surprise me if she hasn’t had an original thought on her own this entire campaign.
“There’s no question that Bill Ayers via his own admittance was one who sought to destroy our U.S. Capitol and our Pentagon. That is a domestic terrorist. There is no question there. Now others who would want to engage in harming innocent Americans or facilities that it would be unacceptable to, I don’t know if you’re gonna use the word ‘terrorist’ there, but it’s unacceptable and it would not be condoned on our watch.”
Terrorism is “The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.”
Would abortion clinic bombers really not fall under that? To me, they fit perfectly with that definition. They threaten doctors and women with violence to coerce them into not performing or having abortions. Since Palin is anti-choice, this isn’t terrorism. Unbelievable.
