U.S. Attorney’s Porn Fight Gets Bad Reviews

September 11th, 2005 No comments

Alex AcostaOur Jackass of the Week this week is Alex Acosta. Why? Because this guy couldn’t get laid in high school and is pissed off at the world.

When FBI supervisors in Miami met with new interim U.S. Attorney Alex Acosta last month, they wondered what the top enforcement priority for Acosta and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales would be.

Would it be terrorism? Organized crime? Narcotics trafficking? Immigration? Or maybe public corruption?

The agents were stunned to learn that a top prosecutorial priority of Acosta and the Department of Justice was none of the above. Instead, Acosta told them, it’s obscenity. Not pornography involving children, but pornographic material featuring consenting adults. Read more…

John RobertsThis post came from Irregular Times and summarizes why John Roberts is unfit for the highest court in the land.

George W. Bush has re-nominated John Roberts, not just to become a regular justice on the Supreme Court, but to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who denigrates Americans’ “so-called right to privacy” to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who thought it was OK to keep the kids of immigrants from getting public school education to become the Chief Justice of the United States.

Pick up the phone and call your United States Senators today. Let them know in no uncertain terms that John Roberts is the wrong man to be put in charge of America’s judicial future.

George W. Bush has nominated a man who has only two years’ experience being a judge to become the Chief Justice of the United States, the top ranking judge in all the land.

These reasons have also landed him as this week’s Jackass of the Week.

JOTW- Bernard Goldberg

July 25th, 2005 6 comments

bernard goldberg This week’s Jackass of the Week is Bernard Goldberg, author of 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America : (and Al Franken Is #37). Why this man? To start, his book leans heavily to the right, targeting mostly liberals, when zealous conservatives are just as guilty as destroying America with their faux patriotism. Second, many of the people listed in his book are harmless to America. He focuses mainly on celebrities in his attacks, when the real focus should be on the real people that are destroying this country, the politicians, on both sides. Goldberg can’t see past his bias towards liberals and his hatred for celebrities to see what is really corroding the country, people like him who further divide the country by making outrageous claims.

JOTW- Karl Rove

July 14th, 2005 No comments

Karl Rove Come on, don’t tell me you didn’t see this one coming. Rove goes above and beyond the title of Jackass. The current scandal of him leaking information to Time and lying about it further shows how dishonest this administration is. Maybe catching Rove in his lies will help people realize this. Congrats Karl Rove, you truly are a jackass!

JOTW- Alberto R. Gonzales

Alberto R. Gonzales

IO Error suggested this weeks Jackass of the Week. Why is it Alberto Gonzales? Well, he summed it up pretty well in his article.

The reason Gonzales is the Jackass this week is because of the Dept of Justice’s website and how full of propaganda it really is, including my favorite aspect of the site, the USA PATRIOT ACT Quote of the Day, especially today’s quote:

“I personally believe that if these tools [in the Patriot Act] had been in law-and we have been trying to get them there for years-we would have caught those [9/11] terrorists. If these tools could help us now to track down the perpetrators-if they will help us in our continued pursuit of terrorists-then we should not hesitate to enact these measures into law. God willing, the legislation we pass today will enhance our abilities to protect and prevent the American people from ever again being violated as we were on September 11.”

U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (UT)
(Congressional Record, October 25, 2001)

You would think that the website would give information about the Act, instead it distorts information, and downright lies about the PATRIOT ACT. Thanks again to IO Error and don’t forget to read his post.

JOTW – George W. Bush – Worst Coach Award

June 28th, 2005 No comments

Dumb Bush

After reading a transcript of Bush’s speech tonight, I decided to use a little bit of satire and poetic license by comparing this war with sports. Bush being the coach, the soldiers being the home team, and the Iraqi insurgents being the opposing team. And Bush’s speech tonight was a pep rally and nothing more. Here is the satirical version of the war on Iraq…

JOTW- Ahnold

Ahnold This weeks Jackass of the Week is AHNOLD! Why is the Governator the Jackass of the Week? Because nothing he says or does is helping his slipping approval rating. I don’t know how anyone could take Mr. Freeze from Batman seriously, but that’s just me. I’m betting Ahnold wishes he could put a freeze on those sliding approval numbers.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger?s call for a special election and a new advertising campaign to promote his agenda have failed to arrest his slide in popularity, according to a new statewide poll. Read more…
